Looking to avoid wild spring breakers this year? More people are escaping to the mountains every year. In the Smokies, you’re able to relax, yet there’s so many fun things to do!
The Smoky Mountains are a wonderful place to spend Spring Break, not only for the pleasant atmosphere, but also for all the different experiences!
Explore Downtown Gatlinburg
For those of you who have never visited Gatlinburg, it’s a walkable city with a great deal of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Some popular places to visit include the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, the Gatlinburg Space Needle, and The Village Shops. If it’s just the adults, you may also want to check out Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery and Tennessee Homemade Wines.
Adventure Outside
The Smoky Mountains is the best place to get outside. There’s a mild climate so you’ll be comfortable, and the views are spectacular! Travelers love to explore the mountains, especially Cades Cove and Grotto Falls. Cades Cove is known as one of the most beautiful parts of the Tennessee mountains. It’s a valley with scenic views & many historical buildings. If you prefer hiking, Grotto Falls is the place to visit. It’s a quick 1.3-mile hike to a gorgeous waterfall that you can walk behind! People also love to go horseback riding at Sugarlands Riding Stables!
Experience Pigeon Forge
Pigeon Forge is home to some of the most popular attractions in the area including Dollywood, Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Theater, and The Island at Pigeon Forge. From theme parks to dinner theaters, there’s something for everyone in Pigeon Forge. Make sure you have a way to get around, though; the attractions are spread out!
Relax in a Treehouse
One of our favorite reasons for choosing to spend Spring Break in the Smokies is getting to stay in a “Treehouse Masters’” treehouse! If you watched Animal Planet, you’ve probably seen “Treehouse Masters” starring Pete Nelson. Did you know he built and designed 16 luxury treehouses in Gatlinburg, TN? Right outside of downtown Gatlinburg & the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is Treehouse Grove, a unique vacation experience for everyone – even your pet! The best part about this place, besides all the amazing on-site amenities, is how you can escape to the peace and quiet of your treehouse yet be so close to all the action in town!
